Chapter 4 week 4 blog

Multicultural awareness in the health care professional ( Julia 1996) deal with complexities of ethnicity and health care this is important information to have as a social worker because social workers need to have a familiarity with broad health relatated differences across class, income, education, and occupation. As a social worker we have to keep in mind that with all human diversity on cannot assume that within each group people are alike, and not assume that such difference are true of all members of a particular group. Example I'm a black female but not all black females are alike every one individual have their own traits. I learned that as a social worker a key to survival in a hospital  a social worker is learning to collaborate and cooperate with other professional groups. Growing evidence suggests that various health professions have overlapping concepts of their areas of expertise, especially when it comes to the psychosocial arena. The Csikai and Bass(2000) study findings indicate that the respondents, who all were social workers with at least some experience with client end-of - life decision making shared very similar views on the situations that most contributed to ethical dilemmas in end- of - life decisions. Example lack of advance directive, confidentiality issues, not sue if client is competent to decide.
